Two molded fiber tubes for effervescent tablets on a washstand, a glass with a fizzing tablet next to them
paper bottles & containers · custom-developed

Paper bottles, jars and tubes made of molded fiber Containers designed for your contents and your filling

One-piece fiber body, for bottles and jars with thread and fiber screw cap — internal barrier developed for your contents and tested on the prototype (WVTR, OTR), declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 for your container.

Designed for your contents, tested in the filling trial on your line — design, tool making and production from a single source.

Why molded fiber

One-piece containers made of virgin fiber with thread in the body

We develop every container together with you from your requirements: conformity for exactly your bottle, jar or tube, barrier for your contents, closure for your filling. The bottle and container have won awards: WorldStar Packaging Award 2025 in two categories, first place at The Sustainability Award 2025 and gold at the Shop! D-A-CH Awards 2025.

Food contact

Food contact compliant

Suitable for direct contact with your food — according to the declaration of conformity under Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, which we prepare for exactly your container.

Barrier

Barrier to your requirements

Internal coating against moisture, water vapor and oxygen (WVTR, OTR): you specify which one you need — tested on the prototype with your contents.

Closure

Thread directly in the body

The PAPACKS Model S10 forms thread and undercut in the body. Screw caps or lids are also made of fiber.

We define coating, volume and closure with you — based on your contents, your filling and your shelf-life target. We design the container to your specifications, test it on the prototype and only then build the production tool. You will find the documents for your supplier approval in the download area.

Examples

Every fill product gets its own shape

Your container is created the same way as these examples — you specify volume, closure and label panel.

Presentation

Cigar tube

One tube per cigar, with a band in your colors. The fiber remains visible and tangible as the surface.

Closure

Fiber screw cap

Grip ridges on the rim, thread on the inside — the screw cap is made of fiber, just like the body.

Paper bottles, jars and tubes made of molded fiber are one-piece hollow bodies made of virgin fiber with thread and closure, with a functional internal coating as a barrier. PAPACKS develops them for your contents and forms them on the PAPACKS Model S10, the robotic line for hollow bodies with undercuts. The container is designed for dry fill products such as powders, tablets, capsules, spices and tea; liquid and pasty products follow after barrier development and testing on the prototype. We clarify in a consultation what is possible for your product — volume, barrier and conformity are later stated in the data sheet of your container.

Timeline

Around 12 weeks from your approval

First prototype: around 4 weeks after the kickoff. From your approval, tool making, pre-series and start of production follow in around 12 weeks. If barrier development is included, your budget quote states the schedule.

Tooling costs

Tools

Tooling costs depend on annual volume and term. We discuss the detailed terms and a five-year warranty on our tools from our in-house tool shop in detail, based on your requirements.

From first conversation to series production

How your container is created

Four steps from the first question to running series production. For the barrier, a development phase is added: we define the requirements with you and test coating, container and contents together — you give the approval for series production.

Tool and series production

Production tool made in-house, pre-series and initial samples from the production tool, then ongoing series production on the PAPACKS Model S10 — delivered according to your call-off schedule. Around 12 weeks from your approval.

The times are planning estimates; they depend on your approvals, the capacity of our teams and the scope of your project. Your project team at PAPACKS presents the detailed plan around 1–2 weeks after the kickoff. You receive the process and budget quote as a guide after our initial call — with development, tool and unit price; the binding quote follows after development.

Evidence

Certificates and documents for your approval

Certificates with certification body and scope, the declaration of conformity for your container — the documents for your quality assurance in one place.

Food contact

Conformity for each package

For your container, you receive our declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 with scope — type of food, temperature and contact time — for container and closure, tested as delivered with coating. We jointly define additional tests on the finished product — on request via an accredited laboratory.

Declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 — prepared individually for each container, with the initial sampling from the production tool

Substances

Material declaration for each container

We do not add PFAS in the formulation, coating or process. The declaration of conformity for your container documents compliance with the PFAS limits that apply to all food contact packaging (Art. 5(5) Regulation (EU) 2025/40) and the test for optical brighteners (BfR XXXVI).

Disposal

Recyclability for each container

We have the recyclability of your container assessed product-specifically by cyclos-HTP — as delivered, with coating and closure; we commission the report for your item on your request.

Test method: cyclos-HTP according to the ZSVR minimum standard and DIN EN 13430 — assessment per item on request

Production

BRCGS Grade A

Containers from our BRCGS-certified plant are manufactured to the BRCGS Global Standard Packaging Materials, HACCP included. Your quote states which plant manufactures your container; your quality assurance receives the certificate with scope.

Frequently asked questions

What customers ask before the first sample

Yes, within the scope of the declaration of conformity for your container. It states the type of food, temperature and contact time and is based on tests on the container as delivered, including the coating. We jointly determine which additional tests your finished product with your food requires, on request via an accredited laboratory; you confirm suitability for your filled product in your approval. For cosmetics and technical fill products, we clarify the evidence in a consultation.

The container is designed for dry fill products: powders, tablets, capsules, spices, tea, cereals, baking ingredients, bath salts and granules. For liquid and pasty fill products, we develop the barrier with you — matched to fat content, pH value and your shelf-life target; testing on the prototype shows whether your product can go into the container.

An internal coating against moisture, water vapor and oxygen (WVTR, OTR). We determine with you which one you need based on contents, moisture and shelf-life target, and test it on the prototype with your contents.

The container is made in one piece from molded fiber; we apply the coating on the inside. For bottles and jars, we mold the thread and undercut directly in the body; screw caps or lids are also made of fiber, with coating. We clarify the tube closure, tamper evidence and dispensing aid in a consultation.

We create logo, texture and embossing in the tool, directly in the body; you apply your paper label during filling — flexibly per variant and language. We design the label panel to your label format.

You check that in the filling trial with prototypes on your line — feeding, cycle rate, closing and labeling — before you approve the production tool. Tell us the manufacturer, model and cycle rate of your system; we design the prototypes accordingly. You can read what matters for molded parts on automated lines under Automated Line & Filling.

First, you receive sample containers from our development on the PAPACKS Model S10 — bottle, jar or tube, matched to your project. Your own prototype is created in step 3, around 4 weeks after the kickoff — in the quantity for a filling trial on your line. From your approval, tool making, pre-series and start of production take around 12 weeks. The times are planning estimates; binding dates are set out in your detailed plan.

We develop custom containers from 100,000 units per year. Your quote states the tool price; it depends on shape, requirements, number of tool sets and volume. We contribute to the tooling costs depending on annual volume and term; we give a five-year warranty on tools from our tool shop — both subject to the terms in your quote. The unit price is determined by fiber quantity, wall thickness, coating, closure and annual volume.

The disposal route is shown in the assessment of your container: we have the recyclability assessed product-specifically by cyclos-HTP — as delivered, with coating and closure, according to the ZSVR minimum standard. We commission the report for your item on your request; the labeling on your label is based on it.
