Supplier approval for molded fiber packaging Declarations for each molded part, certificates with scope — for your approval checklist

You send your approval checklist. We cross-check it against our documents and prepare the declarations for your molded part.

Cross-checked against your approval checklist, declared for each molded part — design, tool and series production from a single source.

Clarify first

Three questions before approval

Approval checklist, food contact, PPWR: your answers determine the set of documents for your molded part — for initial approval or for PAPACKS as a second supplier.

Approval checklist

What does your approval checklist require?

Your approval checklist names certificates, tests and documents. In the initial consultation, we cross-check it against our documents; your quote states which plant manufactures your molded part and which certificates apply to it.

Food contact

Will your molded part come into contact with food?

Then we prepare the declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 individually for your molded part, with the initial sampling from the production tool; it is based on tests on the molded part as delivered. You confirm suitability for your food in your approval, on request via an accredited laboratory.

PPWR

Which PPWR information does your supplier assessment need?

On your request, cyclos-HTP assesses the recyclability of your molded part — as delivered, including the coating, if any. For uncoated molded fiber products, our position paper shows for each PPWR requirement what is documented with a source today and what remains an estimate until the EU Commission adopts the delegated acts.

At PAPACKS, supplier approval for molded fiber packaging rests on two levels. Certificates with certification body and scope: BRCGS Packaging Materials Grade A for our certified plant, ISO 9001:2015 and FSC® Mix Credit — your quote states which plant manufactures your molded part and which certificates apply to it. Documents for each molded part: material declaration, data sheet, recyclability assessment on request, batch traceability back to raw material receipt — plus, for food contact, the declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004. For uncoated molded fiber products, our position paper on the PPWR (Regulation (EU) 2025/40) shows the status of each requirement. You will find the documents for your supplier approval in the download area.

Getting started

What you provide, what you receive

Your approval checklist is the starting point. You receive the documents for your supplier file — with certification body, scope and reference to your molded part.

Your information

What you provide

  • Your approval checklist or supplier questionnaire
  • Your product and the contents that come into contact with the molded part
  • The contact conditions: temperature and duration
  • The planned annual volume per molded part — custom molded parts from 100,000 units per year
  • Your request for an on-site supplier audit

Our deliverables

What you receive

  • Certificates with certification body and scope: BRCGS Packaging Materials Grade A for our certified plant, ISO 9001:2015, FSC® Mix Credit — your quote states which apply to your molded part
  • Answers to your supplier questionnaire from our quality team
  • For food contact, the declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, with the initial sampling from the production tool
  • The material declaration: we do not add PFAS in the formulation, coating or process; for food contact, the declaration of conformity documents the PFAS limits and the test for optical brighteners
  • The data sheet with dimensions, tolerances and material composition
  • On your request, the recyclability assessment by cyclos-HTP — your quote states its extent and cost
  • Batch traceability from raw material receipt to the delivered molded part

From first conversation to approval

What we contribute to your approval

Your approval process determines what you check and when. We supply what it needs — in four steps. Design, tool making and series production run as described under Switch packaging and New product.

01

Approval checklist

You send your approval checklist or supplier questionnaire, plus product, contents, contact conditions and annual volume. From this, we compile the list of documents for your molded part.

02

Cross-check in the initial consultation

We cross-check your list against our documents: which certificates are available and which declarations will be prepared for your molded part. You receive feasibility, budget quote and schedule as a guide within a few days.

03

Documents and samples

Certificates and material declaration for your supplier file; sample parts matched to your project. You receive the data sheet and declaration of conformity for your molded part with the initial sampling from the production tool.

04

Approval and audit

You review documents and initial samples according to your procedure. For an on-site supplier audit, we agree the date with you, with access to batch traceability — at every plant that manufactures your molded part.

Sample lead time and quote turnaround are planning estimates; they depend on your approvals and the capacity of our teams. Your approval process determines how long your review takes.

Frequently asked questions

What customers ask before approval

BRCGS Packaging Materials Grade A for our certified plant and ISO 9001:2015, both TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH, as well as FSC® Mix Credit (license FSC-C125098, valid for items identified as FSC® Mix Credit on the invoice and delivery note). Each certificate applies within the scope it states; you can download it in the download area. Your quote states which plant manufactures your molded part and which certificates apply to it. BRCGS assesses the hygiene and quality of manufacturing; the information on your molded part is set out in the data sheet and declarations. For medicinal products, the primary packaging is included in your marketing authorization documents: as the marketing authorization holder, you demonstrate suitability and testing according to the pharmacopoeia; for this, we supply material data, the material declaration and batch documentation. We do not give a blanket assurance of suitability as pharmaceutical packaging.

With the initial sampling from the production tool: we then prepare the declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 individually for your molded part. It states the type of food, temperature and contact time and is based on tests on the molded part as delivered, including the coating, if any. You confirm suitability for your food in your approval — on request via testing in an accredited laboratory. We jointly determine in the initial consultation which tests your approval requires.

We do not add PFAS in the formulation, coating or process. The declaration of conformity for your molded part documents compliance with the PFAS limits that apply to all food contact packaging (Art. 5(5) Regulation (EU) 2025/40) and the test for optical brighteners (BfR XXXVI). For non-food molded parts, the material composition lists the substances used.

The PPWR (Regulation (EU) 2025/40) has applied since August 12, 2026; its obligations take effect in stages. The declaration of conformity for your molded part documents compliance with the PFAS limits for food contact packaging (Art. 5(5)). On your request, we have the recyclability of your molded part assessed by cyclos-HTP — as delivered, including the coating, if any. It is still open how this assessment will feed into the recyclability grades under Art. 6; the EU Commission has yet to adopt the criteria for this in delegated acts. For uncoated molded fiber products, our PPWR position paper shows for each requirement what is documented with a source and what remains an estimate; you can download it in the download area. We cross-check in the initial consultation which further PPWR requirements your approval checklist sets. This information is not legal advice.

For uncoated molded parts, you receive our PPWR position paper: it shows the requirements for heavy metals (Art. 5(4)) and PFAS (Art. 5(5)) as confirmed and marks what remains an estimate until the delegated acts are adopted. In addition, on your request, the recyclability assessment of your molded part by cyclos-HTP and, for food contact, the declaration of conformity under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. We cross-check in the initial consultation, against your approval checklist, what of this your declaration under Art. 39 covers. This information is not legal advice.

Art. 7 of the PPWR sets minimum recycled content for the plastic portion of packaging, from January 1, 2030 at the earliest. Whether the functional coating of your molded part counts as plastic within the meaning of the regulation depends on its composition; you receive the material data on the coating with the data sheet, and we discuss the classification in the initial consultation. This information is not legal advice.

Yes. You arrange supplier audits and plant visits according to your audit plan, coordinated with our quality team — at every plant that manufactures your molded part, with access to batch traceability. Your quote states which plant that is.
